They're not a bird shot with regularity here as far as I'm aware. I have taken a few while after duck and heaven only knows where I could find decoys for them locally. The best I could do would be to put you underneath them, then the rest is up to you!

there are about a gazillion different openers and closes for Trout in the State....same with Crabs and Shrimp and Razpr Clams, etc. Mmultiple seasons for all of the Big Game, splits for Ducks and Geese, etc. etc. ad naseum all of which has the "potential" of affecting a far greater number of "license holders" than a two season Snipe season....

Do they think the tiny handful, in comparison to the thousands and thousands of Trout Fishermen, are too stupid to be...

1971 Snipe, Well, going over to Ireland just might work in with something I have been putting off for years--that being hunting golden plover in Northern Ireland once again. I would be interested in the dates in 2010---all trips this year are now in place. Also, I would hope that the event could be held in November or December, as I purchased a small house in Sask last year and will be there most of September and all of October. As for Lonnie needing to "work" on me regarding...

Eastern Washington and Oregon snipe: Regarding some of the posts about good snipe hunting in October east of the Cascades, that is entirely correct. What I have asked Brad Bales to do in Oregon is to keep the eastern Oregon snipe season as is, meaning to open it in October and run it straight through. But in WESTERN Oregon take those October and some November days and add it to the end of the season. Which, among other reasons that don't make much sense, he doesn't want to do--saying...

The areas where I hunt Snipe are like nothing you would ever expect a Snipe to be in and if all you ever did was look at it from the roads you might think Pheasants but definately not Snipe as its high desert Sage Brush. What you don't see from the roads is that its also on the down basin side of major agriculture complex that is heavily irrigated and what is referred to "waste water" is traveling downslope just under the ground...

Mark, are the bulk of the birds there in October early migrants or do you have that many resident birds? It is interesting that you mention good shooting in October. While out on a snipe scouting/sora hunting trip in October of 2007 I saw a substantial number of birds. I think I commented in a post that it was the only day I have been out when I felt I could have literally shot one hundred birds. Many times I have seen far more birds than that but never before had I experienced so many...

andhunt with him....he's the "other" Snipe hunter in Washington.....at least till Lonnie showed up to crowd us all out...

Lonnie, best Snipe hunting is on the Eastside....at least till it freezes....Gloyd Seeps is packed with them in October all the way up till the first HARD freeze....and any of the wasteways will have birds if there is any sheet water.....

I saw Worths post about opening late....I'd hate to see that cause the Snipe gunning is far better...

I'm located in Omak, we've been here for about 15 months. I still do almost all my snipe hunting in Oregon, can't get away from the home grounds. I would like to find some good coastal areas in Washington, any suggestions, don't want to overcrowd your hunting areas. Lonnie
