SA, SS, Chagaman, you know it was the gold trigger that sold it!

Joe there have been rumours of escaped wild boar up here in the North. We had a hurricane here about seven or eight years ago which brought down many trees. There are a few guys who were breeding wild boar for the restaurant business and a few may have escaped during this time. I wouldn't mind hunting one!

Northern born that's handy having the two barrels. Over here they class them as two seperate firearms even though you can't use the both barrels at the same time, crazy!

Between the gamefair I was at on Saturday and all the little jobs and people to visit today I would not have been able to give my new gun a good test. So next time I'm home I will get it to the range and put it and myself through the paces.

On a side note, the game fair was fun but it bucketed down the entire day so the camera never really came out except to take a picture of a wing walker display team,





and some mounted snipe,





The second picture was actually taken last year but the same demonstration piece was there this year. The young guy that does them has really superb work on show and it's him who I will get to mount my snipe this year.

Irish Snipe.

The gun was shot today and only once. I went up to the release pen and hid in the trees with my .22 Hornet. After glassing the area I decided the grass was too high to see anything so I put the rifle away and brought out the shotgun. After finding a suitable hiding place I used my Cass creek crow caller do some talking. Within five minutes a big grey crow came soaring over the trees as about 35yards over head. Up went the gun, bang, the crow threw its head back and plummeted with a thud to the ground. Very satisfying! Out of the corner of my eye I saw a fox legging it down the field. With the rifle in the jeep I had to let him go, but at least one predator didn't escape!





The grey crow is a big bird and would think nothing of taking a pheasant or turkey poult.





In other news I went fishing with my dad and I don't know if it was all the thunder and lightening we had today or what but the fish were really not biting. We could see a few feeding on the top but they were not really committed. I was using a minnow pattern and I had great fun watching trout following my fly only to bottle out at the last minute. We did in the end manage a couple of fish each but I had more fun today than I have had on most days watching them follow my fly.
